(born:  December 1911 - May 1913; July 1930 - December 1931 ; January 1949 -July 1950 ; August 1967-April 1969;  May 1986 - November 1987, January 2005-June 2006).

One of these periods, 1967-1969, saw a pretty impacting war in the Western world (the Vietnam war) but  also the gestation of the notion of “Make Love not War".  With North Node in Aries, the South Node is in Libra, and with such a signature we would be peaceloving, and not particularly interested in an Aries-Destiny of "making war". In fact, none of the years mentioned above were years which stick in our minds as “war years”, with the exception of Vietnam. However, was this Destiny? Vietnam? Given that the NORTH Node was in Aries? Now, of course, it’s pretty hard to to believe that “war” could ever be Destiny, but being a Warrior, a Spiritual Warrior even, could most definitely be. Psychologically, people with South Node in Libra tend to be those who opt for cooperation, they have a hard time making choices, have a hard time fending for themselves. Maybe that is the Destiny of North Node in Aries, to start making choices in this given lifetime, for a change. It can be very exhausting to never make any choices, and the Soul may have decided that with North Node in Aries, it is high time to choose, to choose to be on the right side, to choose for something one believes in. Most of the individuals in the  examples used below tend to be pretty freethinking individuals who impacted the world in a truly pioneering fashion. The South Node in Libra gave them all the talents for diplomacy, and some of them did go to war ultimately with North Node in Aries, in many different ways.

Mars is the ruler of the North Node in Aries, and it would seem that with each significant progression of Mars, Destiny calls. Since Mars transits the entire zodiac in a relatively short period of time, Mars aspects by progression may make a greater impact to do with one’s Destiny.  Each transit or progression to Venus is a transit or progression to the ruler of the South Node. It means patterns of the past come to the foreground in such times, either to become conscious of them or to change them.

In the short delineations below Mars and Venus as rulers of the North - and South Node have not been taken into account. They ought to be however when you look at individual charts.

1. NN in Aries in the 1st house:
This would indicate that one’s destiny might really be about becoming INDEPENDENT. I’ve often seen people with this signature telling me that they would so much like a relationship (South Node in Libra in the 7th house), but apparently it seldom works out. It is as if these people can’t live without a relationship (in fact, most of us think we can’t, to be frank). But the Destiny of the North Node in Aries in the first house might mean choosing for oneself, choosing for independence, and to learn to simple "Be".

2. North Node in Aries in the 2nd house
This would of course mean a destiny of becoming self sufficient, of independently making a living, not tying it in with a partner. It is all about not being dependent on the resources of the partner, but making choices geared towards one's one’s own resources. And maybe one should become more adventurous and courageous vis-a-vis one’s own resources with this North Node placement.

3. North Node in Aries in the 3rd house
This would seem to indicate a soul that is too polite to ever say what he/she really thinks personally. Learning to speak up, to give one’s own independent ideas, and no longer hiding this in clouds of politeness could all be issues of growth.  Learning to have the guts, the courage to speak up for oneself. In sum, moving toward a destiny of learning to become an independent thinker.

4. North Node in Aries in the 4th house:
Creating one’s own world rather than fitting in in the outside world. Live your whole life independently, start afresh, pioneer your existence in some way, that would seem to be the Aries North Node in the 4th destiny.

5. North Node in Aries in the 5th house:
A Fire Destiny in a Fiery Situation: To be truly and independently creative, the pioneering way, would seem to be the destiny of this soul who on the other hand may just be too interested in improving the world, or do things together with friends, rather than starting things from one's own creativity.  Yet this would be his or her path nevertheless.

6. North Node in Aries in the 6th house
Becoming active on a daily basis, rather than dreaming about all kinds of things, as well as  physically exercising,  might be part and parcel of this Soul's path in this lifetime.

 7. North Node in Aries in the 7th house
The Ideal path would be to become a person who is able to be him- or herself at all times within the situation of relationship. It is a matter of not competing neither quarreling with someone else, nor finding it necessary to assert him/herself all the time in relationship, but just being independent IN a relationship.

8.North Node in Aries in the 8th house
Becoming truly courageous and daring to take a different stand in relationship, moreover, having the guts to assert oneself in relationship would seem to be the path to follow. More often than not, these type of individuals seem to make the other person mad, hesitating and wavering so much that the other person makes all the decisions, or even starts to become angry. Owning this behaviour and learning to be self-assertive without anger in a relationshp, and daring to even be in a relationship, are important things to develop.

9. North Node in Aries in the 9th house
As with North Node in Aries in the3rd house, it is important for such a Soul to speak one's own mind.  The 9th house however points to beliefsystems as well, and having personal opinions about them, is just fine, in fact, it is something to learn to develop in this lifetime. Also, maybe roam around the world and be an adventurer, discovering new worlds continuously, and not be afraid to do so.  (Refine by looking at Mars as ruler of the NN)

10. North Node in Aries in the 10th house.
Be a pioneer in your profession. Make an independent mark on the world, stimulate other people in an outside career. Never mind beautifying the home or wanting to stay at home in a nice relationship. Get out there, and by yourself! (Look for what Mars is doing in your chart to be more specific).

11. North Node in Aries in the 11th house
Being assertive within a group, pioneering with groups, leading a group, and being independent from the collective and yet be in the collective are keywords to do with one’s path here. It is likely that you prefer to keep good manners, enjoy the more artistic life, and do your own thing, but the idea is to really go for something to do with the larger whole, and to take action with others.

12. North Node in Aries in the 12th house
Being independent and free from all kinds of religious or spiritual teachings, awake in one’s own spirituality, and not afraid to be alone with God, as it were, would seem to be one’s path here.  (Look at what Mars is doing to figure out exactly how and where)

NN in Aries in 1: conjunct Uranus

MIKHAEL GORBACHOV: March 2 1931, 7:52 am DT Zone -3 -3 - (1), Privolnoye, Stavorpol, USSR, 45N18, 42E40

With North Node in Aries in 1 conjunct Uranus, fighting independently for a revolution, a perestroika, a restructuring, fighting oneself free out of the system, Mikhael Gorbachov sure seems to have lived up to his Destiny!  He even ended up alone, first deserted by the support of his people, next because Raisa died at a relatively young age (1999).

His North Node ruler and South Node ruler are opposed. Gorbatsjov is likely to meet the shadows of the past continuously in this lifetime. His South Node in Libra is conjunct Venus in the 10th house, Being ultimately rejected by the greater majority of his people, was a karmic act, a consequence of past behavioral patterns, which simply needed to be broken for the future to manifest.  The interesting thing is, that Gorbatsjov did even free his whole country of past patterning towards more independence and individuality!  So this man definitely lived up to his Destiny, unlike the next example, a woman who lived in a time, where women lived out their destinies more often through their partners than is the case today. However, freeing herself from the thoughtworld of her partner really was her destiny, but she did not live long enough to get that far:

NN in Aries in 3: A failed Destiny

EVA BRAUN: feb 6 1912, 5:30 CET, Muenich, Germany, 48N08 11E34 Ascendant 4.46 Capricorn conjunct Venus 8 Capricorn.

Eva Braun, mistress of Adolf Hitler, certainly failed to reach her destiny as with the North Node in Aries in the 3rd house, which may be due to the fact that she did not live long enough to accomplish that, since the North Node usually is not reached until 35 years of age. In essence it  was important for her to learn to be free in thought, to express her own ideas. The ruler of the North Node in the 5th house in Gemini only adds to this picture. But what is Eva Braun known for? Not for her independent thinking, but for her being the mistress (Pisces) of another person, Hitler. She took over his views on politics (Libra South Node in the 9th), and was known for being a mistress: Venus, South Node ruler, conjunct the Ascendant.

NN in Aries in 3:

MAO TSE TUNG: Dec 26 1893, 12:26 am GMT, Chao-Chan, 27N36 113E 30 (Source: De Lescaut - 600 Capricorns), Asc 20.56 Capricorn, NN in 3 in Aries, Mars 25.53 Scorpio in the 10th.

Thinking of Mao Tse Tung we will think of revolution, maybe. But Mao Tse Tung became very famous for his “Red Book”, which is such an incredible expression of the North Node in Aries (red) in the 3rd house (books, and little ones, it being the 3rd house:-)  !  The ruler of this North Node is Mars in Scorpio in the 10th, so his thoughts instigated others to follow his beliefs and fight for them, and did became publicly known.  One could maybe even say that the “Red Book” really was a part of Mao’s destiny.

NN in Aries in the 7th

RICHARD NIXON, Jan 10 1913, 5:43:56 am GMT, Yorba Linda, Ca 33N53, 117W58 Asc 19.18 Virgo NN 6.12 Aries, Mars in Sagittarius 29.45 in the 4th opposite Pluto in the 10th.

Could it have been that it was Nixon’s destiny to lead his people in the Vietnam War? Watergate seems more a matter of the South Node, as his SN ruler is in Pisces in the 6th house - Nixon wavered too much, and used deceitful methods obviously. He did not meet up with his destiny with Watergate, unless one considers the fact that he was ultimately alone, with NN in the 7th house in Aries. However, he did have Pat Nixon on his side (usually). NN in Aries with its ruler opposite Pluto definitely feels like the involvement in the Viet Nam war was part of his destiny though, Mars in the 4th: political fervor, and Pluto in the 10th house: a powerplay. He may have lost his own battle , but he certainly did not make a lot of friends in his career, which is one way of looking at NN in Aries in the 7th house! The ultimate way would be different I expect, an individual free to be himself in relationship.

NN in Aries in the 7th

Sir WINSTON CHURCHILL, November 30 1874, 1:30 am LMT, Woodstock, Oxfordshire, 51N52 1W21, NN 25.51 Aries in the 7th conjunct Neptune, Mars in Libra 16.32 in the 1st.

Another political leader with NN in Aries is Sir Winston Churchill, and he did deal with the issue of war and peace, the issue of Aries and Libra, wholesale. His North node ruler is in the same sign as his South Node: Libra, so his destiny was not completely Aries-like, it led to Libra, the continuous peacemaker, he was the ultimate diplomat, after all, as his South Node was in Libra even conjunct Jupiter. Stimulating other persons (NN in Aries) and catching their imagination (conjunct Neptune, asking for sacrifice?) was part of his destiny.

NN in Aries in the 9th:

MARTIN LUTHER, November 19 1483, 22:46 pm LMT, Eisleben, Germany, 51N31, 11E32, NN 28.42 Aries in the 9th, Mars (widely conjunct Saturn) in Scorpio in the 3rd.

Another individual who definitely made his mark true to the North Node, was Reformer of religion Martin Luther. His North Node is in the 9th house, the house of religion: his independent new views did not bring him only friends, but also a lot of opposition : the North Node ruler in Scorpio in the 3rd house widely conjunct Saturn.  A battle in thought, opinion and debate, but Martin Luther definitely met up with his Destiny alright, he lived it.

That is the second example we see from makers of history with the North Node in Aries, who were specifically known for “Reform”. Aries is “Something new” indeed, some pioneering way, maybe we should add the word Reform(ation), to the North Node in Aries? Luther with the Reformation, Gorbatsjov with the Perestroika.

NN in Aries in 10

BHAGWAN SHREE RAJNEESH (Osho) : Dec 11, 1931, 11.43 am GMT , Kutchwada, Raisen, India, 23N15, 77E23, NN in Aries 1.59 in 10, -90-Mars 1.02 Capricorn in 7.

What would one expect of the destiny of a NN in Aries in the 10th individual: that he would create his own world? In fact, it seems that he did meet up with his destiny, for so he did. It did not go of itself, the North Node ruler was squaring the Nodes in the 7th: he did have the habit of both binding people to him as well as upsetting them. His South Node ruler Venus, squaring Uranus, is on the 8th house cusp: his ides about liberating women sexually (or something like that), is something which came natural to him but was a pattern of the past I suppose. Mars as ruler of the North Node is conjunct Mercurius, so being verbally upsetting to people, speaking out on relationships an independent way may well have been part of his path.
